Monroe Regional Teacher Residency Consortium

The University of Rochester’s Teacher Residency Programs apply to the Warner School’s Master’s in Teaching with Initial Certification programs in the following high-need shortage
areas in New York State:

Secondary Education:
• English Language Arts
• Mathematics
• Science
• Social Studies
• World Languages
Grades K-12:
• Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)
• Teaching Students with Disabilities
Grades K-6:
• Early Childhood/Elementary Education with dual certification
in Teaching Students with Disabilities

OUR APPROACH:
A Residency Certificate is issued upon application to students enrolled in this New York State registered residency program, and this certificate remains with them for the duration of the program. Upon completion of the teacher residency program, the Residency Certificate expires, and graduates receive their New York State Initial Teaching Certification as specialists in one of the high-need certification areas. By reducing financial barriers to entry and facilitating employment after program completion, the Warner School’s residency partnerships with Rochester-area schools promote persistence in teaching over time.

OUR PARTNERS:
Our Teacher Residency Programs are currently funded by the
New York State Department of Labor (NYSDL) Teacher
Residency Program and offered through:

Monroe Regional Teacher Residency Consortium, a partnership with Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES, Monroe One BOCES, select districts, and Nazareth University School of Education.
