Social Good Intern

This internship is part of the 2024 Humanities for Life (HFL) Summer Internship Program. This premier opportunity allows UR students to access traditionally unpaid opportunities that highlight the value of the humanities in the workplace. If selected, students will receive a $5,000 stipend over a minimum 270-hour period in a non-for-profit organization in the Rochester, NY region.

About Delphi Rise:

Delphi Rise is a small but impactful community-based, non-profit behavioral health organization that focuses on supporting individuals with substance use addiction.  Since 1936, we have been offering our community an array of services including Outpatient Treatment; school-based prevention, education, and counseling; prison Reentry Services; HUD Rapid Re-Housing supports; and Health Homes Care Management services. We also operate an Open Access Clinic, providing on-demand substance abuse evaluations and referrals. In fact, we are the only 24/7 Open Access Provider in Monroe County!

Summary:

Delphi Rise is committed to providing our interns with a comprehensive, varied and supported experience, allowing them to learn the many facets of the work of non-profits to serve the community.  The Social Good intern will come away from the experience feeling knowledgeable of community resources, aware of the needs of our local community, and inspired to continue to do good!

Internship Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will be determined in partnership with supervisor and based on intern’s strengths and interests. The following are possible responsibilities throughout the course of 9 weeks:

  • Provide supportive services to individuals with a history of substance use disorder, health care challenges and/or mental health struggles in our Health Homes program
  • Help with website design updates
  • Support with the development our first annual report
  • Support with outreach events in the community and on site
  • Support with shredding and/or scanning paper documents to allow us to be in compliance with oversight organizations
  • Answer phones and greet clients during lunch breaks
  • Supporting social media efforts
  • Data entry 
  • Helping staff organize closets due to a recent chaotic move
  • Other duties as agreed upon!

QUALIFICATIONS:  The minimum requirements for this position:

  • Current UR student
  • Open minded, flexible and eager to learn
  • Enthusiasm to tackle a wide variety of tasks!
