School Administrator and Communications Associate Intern

This internship is part of the 2024 Humanities for Life (HFL) Summer Internship Program. This premier opportunity allows UR students to access traditionally unpaid opportunities that highlight the value of the humanities in the workplace. If selected, students will receive a $5,000 stipend over a minimum 270-hour period in a non-for-profit organization in the Rochester, NY region.

Responsibilities:

School Duties: 

  • Maintain/Update Student Records
  • Organize & conduct Parent Communications/Meetings
  • Administer Need-based & Merit-based Auditions & Scholarship Process

Develop & Distribute: 

  • Semester Schedules, Semester Forms, Special Event Flyers, Scholarship Information, Student Tasks / Scholar Responsibilities, Miscellaneous Items (i.e. class cancellations, event updates, calendar rescheduling, etc.)

Keep Semester Payment Records:

  • Receive student tuition
  • Update payments weekly
  • Forward to Accounting
  • Report end of semester balances
  • Identify outstanding balances / Send letter to parents for payment
  • File check & credit card receipts in student file
  • Record all payments weekly in current contact file

Perform all aspects of the Summer Movement Institute Administration including: 

  • Marketing – social media and distributing flyers locally
  • Donations for Scholarships
  • Student Registration
  • Audition & Scholarships
  • Payments
  • General Correspondence
  • Mailings
  • Reports
  • Scheduling
  • Signage
  • Volunteer Support
  • Vendor Donations
  • Final Showcase Performance (i.e. student photos, Final Showing Program, food purchasing/set up/break down, etc.)
  • Additional Items as Delegated

General Office Duties: 

  • Answer Phones, Retrieve daily mail, Attend weekly staff meetings, Manage Office Supplies, Purchasing, Inventory
