Leadership Development/ DEI Intern

This premier opportunity allows UR students to access traditionally unpaid opportunities that highlight the value of the humanities in the workplace. If selected, students will receive a $5,000 stipend over a minimum 270-hour period in a non-for-profit organization in the Rochester, NY region.

Internship Overview:

As a Leadership Development and DEIB Intern, you will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in driving initiatives that shape the future of our organization. This internship is designed for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a passion for leadership development, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Leadership Development Programs Overview:

United Way has hosted leadership development programs for over 40 years to broaden participation and provide diversity and inclusion in leadership and volunteer positions, and on boards within our region. There are six (6) leadership development programs: (4) programs: African American, Emerging Leaders, Latino, Pride, and (2) partnerships: Asian Pacific American and Indo-American. More than 2,000+ community leaders have graduated from these programs over their 40-year history.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist in Leadership Development Programs:

  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of leadership development program initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement programs that enhance leadership skills and capabilities.

2. Contribute to DEIB Initiatives:

  • Work closely with the DEIB team to implement strategies that promote a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Participate in the development and execution of DEIB training programs and workshops.

3. Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct research on best practices in leadership development and DEIB.
  • Analyze data related to leadership effectiveness and diversity metrics to inform program improvements.

4. Communication and Outreach:

  • Assist in the creation of communication materials related to leadership development and DEIB.
  • Support outreach efforts to engage employees in program activities.

5. Event Coordination:

  • Help organize and coordinate events, workshops, and training sessions related to leadership development and DEIB.
  • Ensure logistical details are well-managed for successful program delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in [relevant field].
  • Strong interest in leadership development, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
