Production Assistant

How FUN is the Rochester Fringe Festival? The Fringe is New York State's largest

multidisciplinary performing arts festival and runs September 10-21 this year. It's a great

place for performers who enjoy showing off their creative talents, and for the

Fringe-goers they entertain. But it’s even more fun to conduct hands-on work where you

literally make it happen. That’s you, the Production Assistant! You’re the one who does

whatever it takes to support the production of shows at Fringe curated venues. Working

as part of a team of Production Assistants and other Fringe-loving colleagues, you will

carry out tasks that enable smooth operation and an engaging, memorable experience

for performers and spectators.

Warning: This position is not a good fit for someone who prefers a desk job and/or who

thrives on predictability. You’ll be on the move constantly, addressing needs as they

emerge – with equipment, people, weather, etc. You’ll be lifting things (up to 50 pounds)

and fixing things and pitching in whenever, wherever, and however needed. You’ll be

behind-the-scenes making things happen and interfacing with festival goers. Priorities

and direction will change – your job will be as dynamic as the Fringe itself!

Does that still sound like fun to you? Great! We are looking for collaborative, flexible,

energetic team players with a strong work ethic who are passionate about people, the

performing arts, and Rochester. You must be responsible, a good listener, and most

importantly, willing and eager to learn. Bonus points if you have prior, relevant

experience.

The Fringe is committed to building a culturally diverse working and performing

environment, and we want you to be part of that.

Are you ready to jump in with both feet for a few short but exciting weeks in late

August and September?

This role is part-time in August, but moves to full-time during September. As the festival

occurs at all hours, this will not be a typically 9am-5pm role. (The festival runs

September 10-21, but set-up and take down exist before and after.)

The success of the Fringe isn’t possible without hands-on, can-do Production

Assistants. We are looking for you.
