This internship is part of Schwartz Community Based Internships. This premier opportunity allows UR undergraduate students to access traditionally unpaid opportunities that highlight the value of the humanities in the workplace. If selected, students will receive a $5,000 stipend over a minimum 270-hour period in a non-for-profit organization in the Rochester, NY region.

The Development Intern will work closely with the Development Coordinator and under the oversight of the Development Director to support the mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester (RMHCR). The intern will assist in community outreach, event coordination, donor stewardship, and support relationships with McDonald’s and third-party event partners. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit development, event management, marketing and donor relations.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & COMPENTENCIES:

· Currently pursuing a degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field (preferred but not required).

· Strong communication, interpersonal, decision-making and problem-solving skills

· Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Maximum 32 hours per week.

· A car is preferred for local travel.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assist in building and maintaining relationships with local community groups, businesses, and individuals.

· Represent RMHCR at outreach events to raise awareness about our mission and programs.

· Provide logistical and administrative support for signature events including RMHCR and Red Tie.

· Help coordinate event planning tasks, such as vendor communication, sponsorship fulfillment, and event-day setup.

· Support the stewardship of relationships with McDonald’s franchise owners and employees.

· Assist with McDonald’s-related fundraising initiatives and campaigns.

· Provide support for third-party fundraising events as needed.

· Help maintain accurate donor records in the database.

· Assist with donor acknowledgment and stewardship activities
