Rochester Youth Year Fellowship
Rochester Youth Year (RYY) is a yearlong AmeriCorps VISTA fellowship for recent college graduates. Fellows serve full-time with a community organization for a 365-day term, and they perform indirect, capacity-building service, working behind the scenes to support sustainable solutions to poverty. Common activities include recruiting and managing volunteers; building community partnerships; writing grants; fundraising; conducting community outreach; planning events; developing programs; and assessing community needs. In addition to the hands-on experience they gain on the job, RYY members take advantage of monthly professional development opportunities to build their skills and learn about a wide range of community-oriented career paths. Fellows are eligible for AmeriCorps VISTA benefits including a living allowance stipend, a healthcare allowance, an end-of-service benefit, personal and sick leave, and more.
We encourage applications from students who are graduating in winter 2024 or spring 2025, and we also welcome applicants who have graduated from college within the last five years. Accepted applicants will interview with all of our host sites and will then be matched with the site that best fits their interests and talents for their year of service.
