Becoming familiar with state and local-level government
What I wish was different
I wish there were fewer interns; I did not get a personal mentor or guidance throughout.
Advice
This was a great experience that helped me obtain positions in law and high-level policy. It is also a great indicator of whether you'd like to work in bureaucracy or the political arena in general. It is important to note that national politics is very different from state and local, aside from the bureaucratic red tape that spans the field as a whole.
