Humanities for Life Summer 2022: Marketing & Artist Relations Internship at IPA

The Internship:

The intern will have the opportunity to work with Melissa Pfohl Smith, Director of the Institute for the Performing Arts and Program of Dance and Movement at the University of Rochester. Melissa is also the founder and Artistic Director of BIODANCE, a contemporary repertory dance company based in Rochester and the University of Rochester's coordinator for Fringe Festival.

Responsibilities:

The intern will help the IPA connect with the broader Rochester community by:
  • Maintaining social media pages; 
  • Creating profiles of UR artists/events to share; 
  • Interfacing with UR artists in connection with upcoming Fringe shows and other events for ads and other marketing; 
  • Collecting information from dance, music, and theater for season brochure
  • Provide administrative support for both the IPA and the Program of Dance and Movement
 

The ideal intern will have the following qualities:

  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Microsoft, Excel
  • Some graphic design experience is helpful, but not necessary
  • Social media savvy: FB, Twitter, Instagram
  • Interest in or experience with the performing arts
