Humanities for Life Summer 2022: Curatorial, Public Programs, or Human Resources Team Internships at The Strong Museum of Play

The Strong Museum of Play

The Strong is a highly interactive, collections-based museum devoted to the history and exploration of play. It is one of the largest history museums in the United States and one of the leading museums serving families. The Strong houses the world's largest and most comprehensive collection of historical materials related to play. The Strong's multifaceted array of research, exhibits, and other interpretive and educational activities serve a diverse audience of adults, families, children, students, teachers, scholars, collectors, and others around the globe.

The Strong offers competitive internship opportunities for students interested in history and museums. Interns may work with The Strong’s collections, research, education, or marketing and communications teams to support the museum and its International Center for the History of Electronic Games, Brian Sutton-Smith Library and Archives of Play, Woodbury School, and American Journal of Play.

For example, students may conduct research for exhibits, learn how to handle and care for artifacts, or assist with the development of educational programs for children. Specific internship opportunities are listed below. However, The Strong is open to creating individual internship experiences based on the interests of the intern and available projects at the museum.
