Humanities for Life Summer 2022: Communications & Marketing Internship at Writers & Books

Writers & Books

is a literary center based in Rochester, N.Y. that fosters and promotes reading and writing as lifelong activities. We attract individuals of all ages and backgrounds within and beyond the greater Rochester area. Our programs are numerous and varied, reaching more than 25,000 people per year.

Communications, Marketing, and Special Events Internship:

Writers & Books’ interns engage with significant projects. They receive mentoring from seasoned arts administrators, gain new skills, and experience what it’s like to work in mid-sized literary art nonprofit.

  • Interns work with the Director of Communications, developing content for online/social media platforms, updating community e-calendars, orchestrating media campaigns to promote adult workshops, writing press releases, and distributing catalogs and other print materials.
  • They learn the fundamentals of planning, promoting, delivering, and evaluating significant events; and have opportunities to execute independent projects, including program documentation and archival management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Interest in the literary arts and/or nonprofit work
  • Facility with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Products
